On Tuesday, March 3, VikingGenetics celebrated some of the most valuable bulls of 2025 at the bull station in Assentoft, Denmark.
This annual event is a tribute to both the bulls and the dedicated breeders behind them. In total, eleven breeders were invited to take part in the celebration, representing Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
During the event, the bulls were presented and breeders received information about the bulls’ characteristics, behavior, breeding values, and semen sales from VikingGenetics’ Breeding Managers and Product Managers. Seeing the bulls again and hearing about their development was especially interesting for the breeders, as many had not seen them since they left their farms — in some cases up to four years ago.
For several of the bulls, they were not even born on the breeders’ farms. Their dams had been sold to VikingEmbryo and later flushed at donor stations, meaning the bulls were born in recipient herds.
The bulls honored are among best-selling bulls and most valuable bulls of 2025, and they continue to be in high demand. All are expected to have a significant impact on both Nordic breeding and international breeding in the coming years, and some already have.
All the dairy bulls celebrated were young genomic bulls, while the two beef bulls were proven sires. Both dairy bulls and beef bulls were recognized to highlight the most valuable bulls across breeds and to include Beef on Dairy bulls, which are gradually accounting for a larger share of total semen sales.
Welcoming the breeders, Chief Breeding Officer Lars Nielsen highlighted the breeding efforts and breeding passion that led to these superior bulls. He also gave a short introduction to the VikingGenetics breeding program.
