August 2020 Proofleaders - The Top NTM bulls

The August proof run has given us new #proofleaders for VikingHolstein, VikingRed and VikingJersey. See the bull introductions below.

VikingHolstein
VH Nader

VH Nader continues as a proofleader in the strong VikingHolstein bull line-up. He has outstanding NTM +43. Great genetic level with high production in a nice combination with health and fertility. Definitely a bull to consider.

VH Nader breeds super production with index 133 with progress both in milk but also in components with fat % at index 116, protein % at 123, and a strong persistency at 107.

In addition to a super production he also breeds progress in reproduction with calving ease at 115 and female fertility at 106. In the health traits, the udder health is at 107 and hoof health at 109.

His dam, the VH Ramis daughter, has not calved in yet. She has been flushed multiple times as a heifer and VikingGenetics has purchased five sons from her including two red Holstein. The VH Ramis daughter is a red carrier.

Her Fageno dam is a chapter of her own being the first Danish heifer to enter the VikingEmbryos program where the VH Ramis daughter was conceived. She is from the herd of Kim Fagerlin in Tjele, Denmark and now has an average production of 13,900 kg milk with 4.72 in fat %, 3.49 in protein % and classified VG87. Her own first calf was the top selling VH Don Red.

VH Bosman

NTM +34 proven

If your goal is to achieve higher production without compromising on health traits, then the daughter proven proof leader VH Bosman is a bull to take a closer look at.

By using VH Bosman in your herd, you will add a lot of production potential to your cows. He is an excellent production bull with a production index at 134. This is a combination of high volume (milk index at 123) and lots of kilos fat and protein (fat index at 130 and protein index at 133).

With such a production potential, it is quite impressive that he can breed average reproduction and positive health, where especially udder health is good (108). Feet and legs are strong (117) and the daughters are nice to work with due to fast milking speed (109) and fine temperament.

All this is based on information from more than 4,200 milking daughters leading to a high reliability in the indexes.

VH Bosman's dam has an average production of 11,300 kg milk with 4.35 in fat % and 3.67 in protein %. She is classified VG88.

VR Heeman

Are you looking for production with high percentages in the milk together with a nice all-round profile? Then you should definitely look at VR Heeman gNTM +34 with a yield index of 125 and great percent’s in the milk (fat% 125 and protein% 118).

At the same time, he gives daughters which are a bit over average in size with wholesome udders, good longevity and great milking speed together with strong udder health. On top of that, he is also positive in all fertility, calving, health and survival traits. 

VR Heeman (VR Hashtag x VR Fonseca x VR Sampo R) is from a normal insemination and the dam is in her second lactation. In the first year, she gave 800 kg fat and protein with great percentages: 3.89 in protein and 4.77 in fat. The granddam is in her third lactation and is still milking in the herd.

VR Froerup

Is your main breeding goal healthy and fertile cows with a great production? Then your solution is VR Froerup that will give you good daughters from nearly all your cows.

VR Froerup has a great all-round profile that will result in magnificent daughters with a super combination of solid production (121), strong fertility (111), udder health (112), general health (112) and hoof health (112). As the icing on the cake, VR Froerup's daughters show great persistence, stable growth and longevity together with great milking speed. They have a large frame with body depth and chest width together with super fore udder attachment and udder depth.

VR Froerup was bred through a normal insemination of a healthy heifer. His genomic NTM was not too high to start with but high enough that he was on the daily plan. While he was waiting for his proof, he just got better and better in NTM and he has demonstrated that it was correct with a high index as a proven sire.

The dam of VR Froerup is stilling going strong and is in her fifth lactation. On average over 4.90 years, she has given 11,777 kg milk with 3.61% protein and 5.00% fat which give 1,009 kg dry matter. In her third lactation, she is classified 86-81-82-84. The granddam got sick after her third calf and was only milking 2.30 years, but the great granddam milked for 6.20 year so longevity runs in the family.

VJ Nibiru

If you are focusing on high daily profit per cow, then you should definitely take a look at the new VikingJersey top bull, VJ Nibiru. He will give you high production of milk solids, excellent fertility, health and superior udders.

VJ Nibiru is among the VikingJersey breed leaders for production of solids. Breeding value for kg protein is at 117 and 115 for kg of fat. VJ Nibiru has very positive breeding values for fertility (106), udder health (111), general health (109) and longevity (105) and he is a conformation improver as well.

VJ Nibiru breeds nice open ripped daughters with good body capacity, a little taller than average. Udders will be extremely well attached, both in front and at rear. Ligament will be strong and udders will be very shallow (116). Placement of teats is good and the teat size is optimal.

The dam of VJ Nibiru is “Nr. Haugaard Gislev Gitte”, EX93. This dam was enrolled in the VikingEmbryo program and has been flushed several times. She has been milking for 171 days: 3,675 kg milk with 5.55% fat and 4.41% protein. MGD is scored VG86 and she has an annual production average of 7,050 kg milk with 6.60% fat and 4.67% protein. Nr. Haugaard Gislev Gitte is the highest ranking VJ Gislev daughter worldwide, and more bulls will follow from this exceptional cow.

VJ Gislev

VJ Gislev is in the absolute elite when it comes to production (121) and kilos of solids (121 protein and 118 fat) based on 1,100 milking daughters. Udder health (111) and longevity (105) are also amongst VJ Gislev's trademarks.
