VikingGenetics´ employees engaged in the World Cleanup Day

In connection with the World Cleanup Day, VikingGenetics organized a Waste Collection Day in mid-September. On Sunday the 20th, many employees from our different facilities took part in this action, some of them were collecting waste in their home areas due to restrictions to avoid spreading of Covid-19.

“I was collecting garbage Sunday because I thought it was a good initiative and also a social event to spend some time with my colleagues”, Sarah Lundgren Andersen, says. She works at VikingGenetics, Assentoft in Denmark and participated with her family in the activity.

The experience was good in many ways for those who joined in the areas surrounding the headquarters. “I think it is incredible that there are so much garbage laying around everywhere. So, helping a little can make a big difference. It was also funny to see all the cars passing by giving a thumbs up for the good job we were doing”, Sara adds.

This action is part of VikingGenetics’ focus on Corporative Social Responsibility (CSR), which in turn seeks to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). “This activity with the employees’ engagement refers to sustainable development goal number 12, which mainly focuses on responsible consumption and production to create a more sustainable community”, says Pia Maach-Moller, Chief HR Officer at VikingGenetics.

“We’re conscious of the impact our company can do to improve the environment with these kinds of initiatives. We’re also happy to see families engaged and sharing time together. All actions were planned considering the national regulations regarding Covid-19”, she adds.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. Read more about the SDGs here.
